Cathedral of Saint Peter

Cathedral of Saint Peter is a Roman Catholic church at 500 North West Street at West 6th Street in Wilmington, DE 19801. It is one of 243 churches in Wilmington, and one of 9 Roman Catholic congregations in the city.

Nourished by the Eucharist, our mission is to continue to reach out to the needy, to embrace our school children and their families, to serve seniors, and to love one another in imitation of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Founded in 1816, we are a family of believers called, like our patron Saint Peter, to be the Rock upon which Jesus built His Church in West Center City.

Cathedral of Saint Peter is part of the Catholic family of churches in The American Church Story. 36 congregations of the Catholic family gather across Delaware — 19,012 across the United States on The Church Map.

From the Catholic Church the whole body received the canon of Scripture, the creeds still recited every Sunday in traditions that never look to Rome, and monasteries that kept learning and Scripture alive through a thousand unlit years. Its parishes remain the largest network of schools, hospitals, and shelters in America, most of them serving people who will never attend a Mass.
