Hammock's deep concern for Oakland's high homicide rates, which stirred his spirit while serving at Pearly Grove Baptist Church in Fresno, CA. Inspired by Nehemiah's story of rebuilding Jerusalem's walls, Pastor Hammock felt called to return to Oakland to rebuild the walls of love, justice, equality, and hope.
