The Coptic, Ethiopian, Armenian, and Syriac churches have held the faith under pressure longer than almost anyone — Ethiopia has worshiped Christ continuously since the fourth century, and the Armenian church has buried martyrs in nearly every generation since. Their endurance is a gift to a church that has grown used to comfort.
