Founded in 1828, Bethel Presbyterian Church has been a cornerstone of faith in the Cornelius area for nearly two centuries. Our congregation began when local families sought to make worship more accessible for those struggling with long trips on poor roadways to Hopewell or Ramah areas.The first sanctuary, built in 1830 using member-donated lumber, served as our home until 1896 when we constructed our current brick sanctuary. The beautiful pulpit we still use today came from a creative fundraising initiative where members invested in raising chickens to fund its purchase.Through times of natio
