We do all we can so all may know God’s love and follow Jesus.

Calvary Church began in 1954 as a small group of ordinary people who gathered in Edna Gooden’s kitchen. They shared a common goal that we still hold today: to know Jesus and share His life-transforming love with Kent County. That love has touched hundreds to thousands as we have reached out to meet the physical, social, mental, and spiritual needs of our community for over 70 years!

Calvary Church is part of the Methodist family of churches in The American Church Story. 1,331 congregations of the Methodist family gather across Pennsylvania — 25,985 across the United States on The Church Map.

Methodism gave the church the class meeting, the circuit rider, and the Sunday school, and gave America the conviction that grace is genuinely for everyone — carried into prisons, mines, and mill towns by preachers who owned almost nothing. Charles Wesley's hymns are still sung in nearly every tradition, most of them by people who have no idea whose they are.
