Albanian Orthodoxy in America began when Fan Noli — later prime minister of Albania — celebrated the first liturgy in the Albanian language in Boston in 1908, a founding act of Albanian religious independence made on American soil before it could be made at home. The larger archdiocese Noli founded entered the Orthodox Church in America in 1971; the Albanian Orthodox Diocese of America, a separate small diocese, was received under the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 1949 and continues today. RCMS 2020 counts 2 parishes.
