Heritage
In January 1994, Randy Clark — a Baptist-turned-Vineyard pastor from St. Louis — preached at a small church near the Toronto airport, and the protracted renewal that followed became known worldwide as the Toronto Blessing. Clark founded Global Awakening in 1994 to steward that stream: training conferences, international ministry trips, schools of ministry and, over time, the Global Awakening Network of congregations that align with its emphases. Based in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, it works across denominations rather than replacing them.
Theological family
Charismatic renewal theology: healing and impartation as present-tense works of the Spirit, joy as evidence rather than embarrassment, and a deliberate effort — unusual in this stream — to document healing claims and engage scholarship.
Who decides what
A ministry and relational network: aligned congregations and ministers relate voluntarily for training, credentialing and mission trips; Global Awakening governs no church and calls itself a network, not a denomination.

With the Toronto church itself (now Catch the Fire, a distinct movement from the same event); and with Bethel's network — allied streams, frequently partnered, organizationally separate.
