Heritage
The Heritage Reformed Congregations formed in 1993 from congregations leaving the Netherlands Reformed Congregations, seeking the same experiential Reformed faith with a somewhat warmer assurance of grace and freer gospel offer. Centered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the fellowship is closely identified with Joel Beeke's ministry and with Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, founded in its orbit, whose publishing and training now reach far beyond the handful of member congregations.
Theological family
Experiential Calvinism: the Three Forms of Unity and the Westminster tradition prized together, Puritan spirituality consciously retrieved, and preaching that offers Christ freely while pressing the necessity of regeneration and self-examination.
Who decides what
Reformed church order: consistories of elders and deacons in each congregation, gathered in synod; ministers trained principally at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary.

Reverent services with psalm-dominant congregational singing, substantial expository preaching in the Puritan applicatory manner, and catechism instruction; the Lord's Supper is approached with preparatory seriousness.
What it has always cared about
The Puritans read as living guides, not artifacts; experiential preaching with a free offer of grace; family worship; and theological education and publishing — Reformation Heritage Books — as a small church's outsized vocation.
Its gift to the wider church
Through its seminary and publishing house, this tiny fellowship has put Puritan and Dutch experiential divinity back into print and into pulpits worldwide — few bodies of any size have shaped Reformed devotional reading more in the last generation.
Commonly confused with
With the Netherlands Reformed Congregations, from which it came — the parting turned on assurance and the gospel offer, distinctions precise to insiders; and with the Free Reformed Churches, a kindred experiential body of different Dutch lineage.
Range of views inside it
A small fellowship with substantially uniform doctrine and worship; variation is chiefly local and generational.
