Heritage
Founded in 1930 at Cicero, Illinois, in the fundamentalist-modernist era, as the Independent Fundamental Churches of America — an association for congregations and ministers who had left or avoided the mainline denominations and wanted fellowship without ever again having a headquarters over them. It renamed itself IFCA International in 1996. Its constituency is the classic American "Bible church": independent, expository, dispensational. Radio teacher J. Vernon McGee was among its best-known ministers.

Fundamentalist-evangelical and dispensational: verbal inspiration and inerrancy, the new birth, premillennial return of Christ, and separation from doctrinal error, stated in a detailed doctrinal statement members affirm.
Who decides what
An association, emphatically not a denomination: member churches are wholly self-governing; IFCA credentials ministers, examines doctrine and provides fellowship, chaplaincies and missions connections.
