Heritage
Newfrontiers grew from Terry Virgo's ministry in Brighton, England from the late 1970s, planting and relating churches that held together two things often kept apart: Reformed theology and charismatic practice. Rather than build a headquarters, Virgo worked as what the network calls an apostle — a relational planter-overseer on the New Testament pattern — and when he stepped back around 2011, the movement deliberately multiplied into numerous apostolic spheres, each led by its own team. Several of those spheres plant and serve churches across the United States.
Theological family
Reformed and charismatic at once: the doctrines of grace preached alongside prophecy, tongues and healing prayer — with believers' baptism, and a complementarian view of eldership.
Who decides what
Relational apostolic spheres: self-governing local churches led by elders, related voluntarily to a sphere's apostolic team for oversight, planting and care. There is no international headquarters, and the family firmly declines the word denomination.

Contemporary worship with genuine charismatic openness — prophetic contributions invited — joined to meaty, doctrinal preaching; communion and community life are taken seriously.

Commonly confused with
With British-rooted networks generally, and with Acts 29 — similar doctrine, but Acts 29 is a membership network while Newfrontiers works through apostolic spheres; and with denominations, which its structure deliberately is not.

Spheres differ in culture and emphasis; churches differ in size and style; the Reformed-charismatic core and eldership pattern hold throughout.
