Heritage
In 1995, as the Worldwide Church of God under Joseph Tkach moved to evangelical doctrine, several hundred ministers and thousands of members met at Indianapolis and formed the United Church of God, an International Association — deliberately choosing a more collegial governance than the church they left. It is headquartered near Cincinnati, Ohio, and its public voice is the Beyond Today telecast and magazine.
Theological family
Sabbatarian Church of God teaching in the Armstrong tradition by self-description: the seventh-day Sabbath, the annual holy days of Leviticus 23, clean-food laws, the gospel of the coming kingdom of God, and man's destiny in the family of God. It is non-trinitarian; trinitarian bodies differ here, a difference this record reports without adjudicating.
Who decides what
A balloting general conference of elders elects a twelve-man council of elders, which appoints the president — a deliberate rejection of one-man rule; congregations are served by salaried and unsalaried pastors under the association.
What a first-time visitor would find
Saturday Sabbath services, commonly in rented halls: hymns largely from the Church of God tradition, announcements, a sermonette and a substantial expository sermon; the Feast of Tabernacles observed for eight days each fall at gathered festival sites is the year's high point.
What it has always cared about
The holy-day calendar as the map of God's plan of salvation; family and youth camps; doctrinal continuity managed by committee rather than by a strong man — itself the lesson its founders drew from their history.

Commonly confused with
With the Living Church of God and Philadelphia Church of God, sibling continuations organized around stronger central figures; with the Church of God (Seventh Day), the pre-Armstrong Sabbatarian body; and with Grace Communion International, the evangelical successor of the church they all left.
